Schoolyard Beer Garden

The former Evans School at 1115 Acoma St. in the Golden Triangle/Civic Center neighborhood of Denver has been transformed and reopened as The Schoolyard Beer Garden. The beautiful, historic Evans School was built in 1904 as an Elementary School.

On a warm day, you can sit outside in a beer garden setting with communal Oktoberfest-style picnic tables.

Or you can enjoy a brew and a brat or burger in the school’s hallways or boiler and engine room.

I went there on two occasions enjoying a beer as well as a brat with sweet potato fries. On another visit, I had curried chicken salad and a croissant from their cafe. I plan to return soon to have a coffee and try their ice cream!

It seems like a great place to meet friends, and you can bring your dog! It has youthful energy and is a new spot to celebrate Colorado’s craft beer culture. I was pleased to see a beautiful building that has sat empty for decades be preserved and repurposed.
